Tommy DeCarlo - Dancing In The Moonlight album cover

TOMMY DECARLO, the self-taught American pianist and singer is best known as the touring singer with the band BOSTON from 2008-2017. He also contributed vocals on four songs on the 2013 BOSTON release "Live, Love, Hope". He released his first album as DECARLO with his son Tommy Decarlo, Jr. in 2013. "Dancing In The Moonlight" is his first solo release. His voice is perfectly suited for the classic AOR style that dominated popular music in the 1970's and 1980's.

'Dancing In The Moonlight' leads off the album highlighting the strong vocals that dominate the album. The music is keyboard driven with a melodic guitar solo near the end.  "Change Our Fate" starts with a melodic guitar solo that leads to an 80's era power ballad with an unexpected guitar solo that is the highlight of the song. "Beyond Forever" starts with an eerie keyboard intro and moves into a very spiritual song with harmonious lyrics. "Life Is Just A Game" starts with a big orchestral movement and moves into another 80's ballad with uplifting lyrics and harmonies.   "No Surrender" is a piano, acoustic guitar dominated ballad similar harmonies. "The Game Is On" has more of an electric guitar driven beat and a slightly faster pace.

"The Road Will Lead To You" starts with a church organ and flute sounding keyboard and then moves into a beat similar to a song from an 80's movie soundtrack. "In The Hands Of Fate" is a another uplifting, slow paced ballad with acoustic guitar, power chords, and metallic leads as the backtrack. "Find Love" is a midtempo song with a stronger guitar back track with 80's synthesizer throughout and vocal harmonies. "Home To You" is another 80's power ballad with background vocals instead of harmonies and a refreshing guitar solo.  "Spread Your Wings And Fly" has an acoustic guitar throughout, and is another vocal harmony ballad.  "You And Me" is another slow paced ballad with similar uplifting vocals and melodic guitar.

"Dancing In The Moonlight" has been described as an album in the classic AOR style, popular in the 70's and 80's. In my opinion, the album fits more into the Contemporary Christian genre. All of the songs have very spiritual uplifting messages played to a soft rock soundtrack. TOMMY DECARLO is a strong vocalist and exhibits his ability on each track The vocal harmonies are spot on and the band are all very good musicians. If you are a fan of Contemporary Christian music from a world class vocalist, this album is for you.
