DIĜIR GIDIM is here. This blackened mysterious/anonymous Italian duo act is back. Releasing their debut, "I Thought There Was the Sun Awaiting My Awakening", in 2017, five years have passed. This ambitious Italian duo now evokes their occult essence, which flows into their highly anticipated comeback, "The Celestial Macrocosmic Scale and the Shimmering Path of the Supreme Regulator", released last November 18th of 2022 via Aeternitas Tenebrarum Musicae Fundamentum.

Before going into the music and the review, one will always find that extreme music comes in many forms of delights (bowl of) forbidden fruit for the listener, whether it's for enjoyment, relaxation, forgetting about daily life, or pure headbang/moshing. Then you have the ones where music is for enjoying, relaxing, and watching the world go by without skipping any tracks - and DIĜIR GIDIM music provides this to the listener.

While listening to "The Celestial Macrocosmic Scale and the Shimmering Path of the Supreme Regulator" and inking my review simultaneously. The further and deeper I went into this unknown vortex journey of no return -simultaneously felt relaxed as the music channels through my speakers and ears. A musical enjoyment of taking the opportunity of not talking about each track but the whole release -with only four songs and a duration of forty-five minutes (each piece or chapter) being approximately eleven minutes each.

This is a musical spectrum built upon the dissonant black metal and a no-return ticket to a journey where chosen souls reach the Passage to Divination, a path through the silence of oceans and deserts, detaching themselves from humanity, assuming transparency and the celestial shimmering, moving to the ultimate sacrifice, surrendering to the merciless embrace of the Supreme Regulator.

"The Celestial Macrocosmic Scale and the Shimmering Path of the Supreme Regulator" is a complex musical spectrum; not easy to listen to at first, but your mind will come clearer after a few plays. At the same time, this is a musical vortex spectrum created by two anonymous demons (named after creatures from Sumerian mythology ("Lalartu" is a demon which slays mothers during childbirth, and "Utanapištim" is a character from the Epic of Gilgamesh who is commissioned to build a giant ship to preserve all life in the great flood that was sent to destroy it) which have crafted, delivered and provided something magical, hypnotic, a celestial vortex to the listener's ears, mind and soul which consists of instrumental work of waves of searing and submersion tremolo picking, maniacal leads and grim riffages, towering synths/orchestral swaths, torrential drumming with changes in the rhythms, while vocals consist of rasping screams, harrowing roars and choruses-where different compositions/characteristics; such as (changes of) tempo, mood, atmosphere, audio-clips of crashing bell-like chimes, crashing of the sea, crackly fire, sounds of thunder and lightning and so on... can be heard throughout the whole release (at the same time) which are all convenient to place at the right moment.

I believe that "The Celestial Macrocosmic Scale and the Shimmering Path of the Supreme Regulator" has created something unique and different while capturing the cold-harsh side of black metal and the magical and celestial side of something -but what? Guess that depends on the listener. - There is nothing more to say.

Footnote, the artwork is an incredible visionary of a magnum opus.<
