Distance of Thought is a "power progressive" group from Houston Texas. I kind of like their album art, it isn't the best but it's definitely a lot more interesting than a lot of stuff out there. As for the intro song "BloodMoon" I liked it but it's not like I am gonna go out right now and buy an album I only make 13$ an hour. It starts to pick up at around 1:30 and you start to hear vocals but are unable to understand them. Something about wolves hunting in the night... Seriously, I love wolves but this is so similar to Iron Maiden it isn't a bit funny. The next track "Beside Myself" had that good guitar chugging you from bands like Disturbed in the intro, but they try to work in a short melody of synthesized bells throughout the song at the same time which I actually found very beautiful. I wasn't really expecting to hear bells in a heavy metal song but it works!

Track three "Rise" definitely has an Iron Maiden-esque sound. I like the message though here about rising above the trappings you think you need. These are really powerful and deep lyrics, another thing I wasn't expecting to hear from a Heavy Metal band. Around two minutes into this track there is a nice guitar solo that I think deserves some credit. The synthesizer work on the track "Edge of Forever" was really cool and definitely helped express the post-apocalyptic sound I think they are looking for here with their album art aesthetic and lyrics about "distant galaxies". It still wouldn't be let's go run out and buy this material but at least I understand where they are coming from now with their Progressive album art. "No Easy Way out" is a cover of Robert Teppers 80's anthem "No Easy Way Out" in 1985. Though not original this is an amazing song and it's cool they did something like this. Hopefully they remember to pay their royalties to Robert Tepper too. "Touch my Name" wasn't really very impressive, just the same re-hashed can of Iron Maiden. Iron-Maiden in a can they should probably call this song. Moving on to track number eight Unspoken had a magical sounding somewhat ambient intro which kept me listening to this album, they switched up the vocals from Iron Maiden to Dream Theatre which was good cause I am almost "at my wit's end" with all these dad-bands metal Temple keeps throwing my way.

The Final Track "War Torn"  was alright but really I enjoyed listening to their keyboardist Jeff Quiggle more than anything, I think the songwriting is really what is in need of work here. Distance of Thought really lacks original sounds and this quality is really holding this band back from being a really good band.
