Extrovert
Saint Asonia
I wasn't able to find any information on the band through social media, so we are going to have to let the music do the talking here. Their latest release contains six songs. "Devastate" is the first. It has fairly heavy and rocking pace, and the vocal harmonies in the chorus soar, with a heavy backbone underneath. The sound borders on Alternative/Nu Metal, however, although Nu isn't really a term anymore...it's now referred to as Modern. "Over It" has a more emotional quality to it. The singer laments about "where did I go wrong," and "what did I become." It reminds me of DAUGHTY a bit. It has a longing energy to it.
"Break the Mold" is a short, three-minute blast of high energy tempered with slower, emotive qualities. The chorus is full of vocal harmonies. "Wolf" has a similar sound to previous tracks. The music is beginning to sound bit automated...and without a lot of the band's personality in it. "Better Now" is the longest song on the album, but still measures under four-minutes. It's a love-lost and revenge kind of song, based on the lyrics. An ex comes back into his life, and he talks about the realization that "I can do better now." "Chasing the Light" closes the album. There isn't a whole lot more I can say about the album.
Overall, this was not my cup of tea. As a music writer and critic, I have to be familiar with a lot of different kinds of Rock and Metal music, and I am. This sound to me is like a lot of radio bands these days, and just doesn't offer anything different than that mainstream, so called "Alternative/Modern" sound. The music is fairly lifeless, and besides a few heavy riffs, isn't unique or original at all. They overly use a formula, and it's the same formula most of their peers use. This is a solid pass for me, and I believe my ranking is forgiving.
