Stahlkeller - Gefangen im Wahn album cover

The quartet features German-speaking Trash Metal STAHLKELLER was founded in 2006 and released their first demo album back in 2007, the first appearance of the band was on a contest. They disbanded in 2012 and in 2021 the band was reactivated and released the first studio album entitled "Gefangen im Wahn" independently. The material brought in demonstrates a simple, raw and direct way of the band, causing a feeling that the band still has several points to evolve and improve, although the album is not bad but, in some way, things get a little out of line, either for lack of harmony or care for details. The production and mixing are not the best one can have, but for an independent work were above my expectations the album has eight tracks and approximately thirty minutes.

"Der ewige Schatten" opens the space for the beating, this direct song works with an incessant rhythm through its riffs and its drumbeats, relies on a bit of diversity with a passage of a vocal narration before returning to its comfort zone to present a fast and powerful solo guitar, its followed by "Gefangen im Wahn" in sequence demonstrating the same cheer and the presence of the previously mentioned elements. "Märtyrer" has a beautiful start with a touch of the Middle east music here the band of a new breath their work, with a hard rock rhythm directly from the 80's in its finale grows in pace demonstrating all the ability and creativity of Steve Peterka on guitars.

In "Gehorsam" the band seems to make a tribute to giant METALLICA at times it is possible to imagine that the GIANT of the USA comes from Germany here, guarded the proper proportions and qualities obviously. "Bangnis" brings a beautiful intro with a striking bass and a very smooth guitar, and then returns to the same rhythm as the first two songs of the album and "Warten auf mein Ende" goes back to METALLICA with its introduction ala "Enter sandmen" appears to end up the production. If you're a Big Four fan and like the old Trash, you should certainly see "Gefangen im Wahn" with good eyes.
