Syn Ze Sase Tri - Ultimu' lup album cover

SYN ZE SASE TRI is back with their fifth full-length ((and chapter) (released in September 2022 via Code666 Records)) "Ultimu' lup", which continues the story that started in 2007 and developed along the four previous studio albums "Între două lumi", released in 2011, followed by their 2012 release "Sub semnul lupului", followed by "Stăpîn peste stăpîni" in 2015 and "Zăul moș" in 2017. The first track I want to discuss is "Hâtri", which is the second piece, which opens to some melodic-IRON MAIDEN vibe and aggression (virtuoso) riffage - which picks up a fast tempo-co long with fast pace drum strikes and -Esque Dani Filth snarling vocal styles which intertwine with low growls and female choir of sirens.

The following track I'd like to talk about is the sixth-minute epic third piece "Din om neom", which opens with a short acoustic and female choir of sirens -following suit with an aggressive attack of the guitars with sweeping melodies, the full-throttle rhythmic aural battering of the drums, and fierce snarls-hitting the approximately four-minute mark, the mood and atmosphere seem to sweep in with the melodic passage of the guitars -followed suit with this -Esque "Eighties European/Melodic Power Metal" epic score of clean singing and instrumental score, which includes clean fret-board virtuoso (simultaneously, headphones seem to capture this epicus and magical moment of the song, including the whole album)-closing the track with one more round of blood-soaked blackened aggression serge.

The final two pieces that need a mention is the seventh piece, "Osanda Procletenie", which opens to the sound of cries, lions and short epic keys, followed by epic and dark melodic and progressive passage of the guitar, fast-drum strikes and blast-beats. At the same time, the vocals intertwine with snarls, low growls and a female choir of sirens. And finally, the closing piece, "Negru", welcomes the listener with folkloric instrument use of the bouzouki or Mandolin, epic drum (one-beat/rolling) strikes, and a soothing atmosphere -followed by an epic mid-pace blackened soundscape, with the folkloric/violin instrumental playing and female choir of sirens pushed in the background. "Ultimu' Lup", which translates "Last Wolf", is grandiose Pagan Black Metal, with folk and traditional influences. A release that's epic and entertaining with a bloody inked lyric concept strongly inspired by the bloody myth of the Ancient Dacian Legends of their motherland.

Personally, the headphones pull one within the musical spectrum with their various compositions/characteristics-convenient to place at the right moment consisting of multiple tempos, moods, tones, and atmospheres provided by the instrumental work of the guitars, drums, different folkloric instruments such as; orchestration, bouzouki, mandolin, violin, kindle keys, Pan flute. Simultaneously, the lead vocalist intertwines six other additional vocalists utilising growls, snarls, and clean and female siren vocals, adding more character to each song.

"Ultimu' lup", in my opinion, is an epic, dark and very progressive release while playing the style of Symphonic Pagan Black Metal with a flare of bands such as CRADLE OF FILTH and DIMMU BORGIR. While the music is brutal and epic, the artwork is fantastic and captures that Horror Movie/Power Metal theme! - Pure Epic!
