"Far from Here" is the first. The Black Metal sound here is augmented with charming and melodic tones as well. The vocals are absolutely gut-wrenching and tortuous but that background stays broad with sublime tones. One of the best parts about the song is the endless struggle between the two...with no clear winner. "Beneath a Sea of Stars" is another aggressive song with free flowing melodies. Again, the vocals are horrendous but that doesn't stop the beautiful flower from growing in the coldest and darkest place on earth. Let this song carry you to that dark place and wrap you in its warmth.

"Illumination" is a shorter song, and the weighted tones are bested only by the glorious melodies that are carried forth by a crippled figure with a hideous appearance. Beauty and the beast has taken on a new meaning in this song. "The Falling Tide" is another gorgeous offering where the filth is tempered with moments of breathtaking elegance. The angry and destructive tide will eventually pass as it always does. When everything around you seems like it is crashing, remember always that tomorrow is a new day, and the sun will rise. "The Passing" is a short four-minutes where the pugnacity is gone and replaced by smooth, mellow tones. Close your eyes and imagine where you want to be and you are there, if only for a few minutes.

"Anew" closes the album, reminding you that everything is cyclical in life. Even the toughest times will pass, and you can take some level of comfort with that statement, or at least, enough to make it through another day. No matter how the storm rages, there will always be a reprieve. This album is about the eternal virtue of hope. If there is a singular concept that glows brightly everywhere and, like an eternal fire, can never be extinguished, it is hope. If you can't find hope in your life, let it find you, because when the days are darkest, it will shine the way.
