Dreams Of Dysphoria
Vacuous
Metal maniacs, rejoice! I am proud to present to you: VACUOUS; signed via Me Saco Un Ojo Records, hailing from England - performing Death Metal, on their debut full-length studio album entitled: "Dreams Of Dysphoria" (released October 24th, 2022). Since formation in 2020; the quartet in question have a demo entitled: "Demo I" (released April 13th, 2020), an EP entitled: "Katabasis" (released November 6th, 2020), a live album entitled: "Live In Leeds 03.09.21" (released October 30th, 2021) & this here debut full-length studio album entitled: "Dreams Of Dysphoria" of which I am introduced to. 7 tracks ranging around 32:18; VACUOUS arrange an intricately designed formula on some heavy-hitting Death Metal developments.
Opening up with this ominously jarring riff; "Devotion" starts off the record with snarky scourers of rampantly rompy tonality, belting a clobbering barrage frenzy in gnarly distortion and bludgeoning bounciness amongst an amplified slab on solid thuds of sturdy grit. Foreboding but concrete malice monolithically manifests with wildly rushing volatility; berserking a bulldozing calamity in ruthless pandemonium & sonically seamless rumbles of reverberating maliciousness. Jo Chen on vocals grumbles his cords with raspy throatiness & uproarious soars of bleeding gutturals amongst a barbaric guttural in growling heft that's most bestial, brutal stampedes rampage with visceral ramifications within "Body Of Punishment" - thrashing with grunty firepower execution amongst a deadly foundation in battering drum hammerings from rambunctious slammer Max Southall who piledrives the set with steely precision whilst smacking it fiendishly with symbolic rage which throttles cymbals into a tight maelstrom of punchy weight with profusely robust substance to boot.
A dense impact in impulse but flexibly fundamental stridency moves with radically wicked savagery; manifesting monstrously meaty thumps that piledrives with organic dexterity and cavernous grooves, especially in the malignant "Matriarchal Blood", motoring pounds rift with piercing yet primitively raw organics that swelter speakers with repugnantly salubrious riffing synergy from duo twinning revers Michael Brodsky & Ezra Harkin, both crafts a dynamically blasphemous trepidation of discordant but dissonant fabrication amongst a killer hybrid in lacerating grinds that thunders with slithering pursuit. Striking intensity flamboyantly forebodes eardrums with relentless adrenaline, injecting an infectiously venomous stability on tremoring transgression & rhythmic nastiness that's thick whilst crunchy for good measure. "Paranoia Rites" utilizes versatile trembles on persevering vehemence; unleashing feral frolics and galloping chugs that showcase sludgy tactics within this merciless wrath of brutal disgust that's rough while shrill.
Implementing a contorted furnace in dread filled momentum; rigged ruggedness viciously bellows and grovels into a growling forcefield of rancorous mayhem that clamors a distilled bombardment in malevolent oppression, where "Stigmata Scourge" bombs a crawling assimilation as audible bangs that smear with tremolo crescendos amongst an all guns blazing fervor while unraveling with a firing all cylinder immolation that's most gliding. "Lucid (Interlude)" is a short yet doomy instrumental before closing with the overall concluding banger of the titular track "Dreams Of Dysphoria" that provides with more of that snappy quirkiness & slapping chunk in brisk hostility, finalizing the record with vigorous rigor & prodigious persistence of grizzly devastation which will start your tiring but hard day of work off rightly with.
Bottom line; I am compelled to say that VACUOUS most surely outdone themselves with this one, for a debut it bashfully desegregates with prestigious heralding and diabolically demented yet maniacal rabid qualities that surely deserves discovering a good few spins. Re-playable with the short 30 minute playthrough, yet an enjoyably entertaining experience in Death Metal torment and anguish in which supplies with distinctively distinguished scourges of towering severity which definitely deserves listening to should you fancy a deathly but deadly Death Metal offering - do check it out.
