A very new band in the genre, with under 100 Facebook likes, Atmospheric/Post-Black Metal band LIGHTLORN present their debut EP here titled "These Nameless Worlds." From Bandcamp, there is but one line describing the album: "Four sorrowful elegies emanating from the infinite cosmic abyss."

"Unmapped Constellations" is the first. The piano notes in the beginning are very charming, but do not alert to the onslaught of sound that is to come...weighted, contentious guitars and harsh vocals, with a tad of Doom to the song. The ambient pause at the half-way mark is very beautiful, and the melody remains in the guitars when the sound picks back up. This song has a very nice combination of Black Metal fury with atmospheric melodies. "Through the Cold Black Yonder" features another opening combination of thick guitar melodies amidst a bottom end of pure aggression. The melodies are quite well developed, as is the darkness on the album, and they will get stuck in your head.

"Dilation Sleep" begins with a big punch of guitar melodies and a pugnacious bottom end. The two competing elements slowly melt together like a well-seasoned stew until that perfect balance is achieved. Let those sweet and sugary piano notes wisp you away into a deep and peaceful sleep. The clean vocals add another element of beauty to the otherwise hateful sound. "Stargazing in the Abyss" closes the album, and this song title is very representative of the sound on the album. It's a bit darker and more aggressive in scope, but that guitar melody will grab you by the hair and pull you into it, enveloping you in its endless warmth. Do I hear a bit of THE CURE here?

The structure presented reminds me of ASIRA. The melodies are simple but very effective at creating memorable moments. You feel caught between two worlds...the first being a very cold and dark place with no human contact and a place where your fears and insecurities threated to overcome you...but the second is a place of pure joy and hope...a place where you can face these fears and rise above them, with help from your fellow brothers. The melodies will keep you warm for years to come.
