NECRAMBULANT is a Slam/Brutal Death metal band from Phoenix, Arizona. The band was formed in 2008 and has gone through an array of line-up changes before and after the release of their first full-length album in 2013 called Infernal Infectious Necro-Ambulatory Pandemic. While more changes came about within the band, they were able to get back into the studio for their next studio effort, the EP A Feast of Festering Flesh.

The album opens with the slamming track "Propensity For Cannibalistic Pleasure". The drums, mainly the snare, reminds me a bit of METALLICA's St Anger. It sounds like it is being played on a thin rusted barrel and adds a very sharp impact to the song. The vocals have a deep vibrating raspy effect that has a very haunting power that stands in front of the music. The next track "Internal Necrotic Putrefaction" uses classic slam squeals paired with hammering guitar as the double bass follows suit in the background. This track seems to be your very typical layout of a brutal slam song without engaging the listener with anything they haven't heard already. "Necromorphic Genesis Of Celestial Horror" is a top track on the release for me as it starts with a neck breaking slow paced riff that has a deep thunderous tone due to the meaty bass riff attached. The drums are devastating but without straying too far off the path led by the guitars.

The heavy sludgy guitars continue with the next few tracks and feel as if you are trekking through the depths of a swamp. The tracks "Necro-Ambulatory Slamdemic" and "Messianic Despoiler" have the most amount of melody you are gonna find in the tracks, but at this point the songs are really just blending together with similarities to the guitar riffs and vocals. The final track "Sacremental Murderous Phantasm" begins with the bass drum falling in line with the slow crunchy guitar riff before moving on to the double kick. Andy's vocals are so deep and from his guts that they sound like he is throwing them up along with the words.

This release just wasn't for me. The guitar at times has some structure to it other than the chompiness followed by a squeal, but with the drums following close by on a short leash, they lose the impact. The vocals sound like they are expelling death itself along with the lyrics which is pretty cool to hear. There are slam metal fans that are gonna love this shit, especially live and amongst the flailing pit, but I found I just became bored as the songs moved on.
