Eufobia - Madness album cover

EUFOBIA is a Death metal group from Bulgaria that started up in 2003 and released their first demo in 2005. The name is Greek, which translates to 'fear of good'. They put out their first full-length release in 2010 titled Insemination and followed it up in 2011 with Cup of Mud. In 2016 they released a single Liquid of Creation which was then on their third album release, Eufobia. Now in 2022 they have just put out their fourth album titled Madness through Wizard LTD.

The album starts off with the aggressive and Thrash metal track "Madness". The song is looking to dictate the frenzied madness that is becoming our world and is a heavy and melodic anthem for the damned world. Strong pounding and direct drumming from Blago carry the track into a creative solo that conforms back into a Death metal guitar riff. The second track "Facing The Firing Squad" is trying to be a little more viscous than it comes across due to some predictable riffage. It does carry into a slower tempo and helps build a little more to the track and in this case really makes the track worth listening to. The vocals at times become a deep gurgling style that loses the intensity the music is trying to keep. The next couple of songs are defined by some pumping bass as it really is the mainstay to the music. It adds a forceful clang to the notes and at times stands stronger than the other instruments. "Messiah" is the standout of the two as it inherits more quality songwriting and creative guitars than "Wolf Among The Sheep" which is more speed driven and direct.

The song "Burning Streets" opens up with fire and keeps the momentum going throughout the track of war-torn scenery. There is enough variety in the riffs to keep the song interesting but once the intensity to the songs come along, they start to blend into each other. "Use Your Head" is a top track on the release for myself as the band sticks to what they seem to excel at with a thunderous rhythm section that delivers a powerful performance in the song. The lyrics are simply written about smoke and mirrors being casted upon us by the powerful in the world. The band uses a good build up in the opening minutes of the track "The Establishment" as they take their time crafting it into the best musically structured song the album has to offer. A very good heavy metal track that features blistering guitars and nonstop destructive drumming with catchy hooks to keep the song continuously growing stronger.

The album is good as it does contain good riffs, solid drumming and very heavy meaty bass lines, but if you are looking for something ground-breaking and cutting edge in the genre, you will not get it here. For a band that has been around for as long as the guys have, you can definitely hear the musicianship within and some good songwriting, but at times it does seem to track its own footsteps. The lyrics are a little underwhelming but are delivered with enough passionate growls to make up for that. There is enough solid heavy metal on the album to be enjoyed by a metalhead.
