Tony Wright - The Anti Album album cover

Tony Wright, who is the lead singer of the very famous & most well known band for their songs Alice What's The Matter? Tequila & Oblivium, TERRORVISION has written a solo album called The Anti Album. Today I'm going to give you a review of the album. Personally I cant stop listening to it! Tony Wright has written 10 new songs for The Anti Album which he is currently doing a UK tour of at the moment. Tony has written an acoustic Bluesy Hard Rock album which I would say is his best ever solo material next to TERRORVISION's HOW TO MAKE FRIENDS AND INFLUENCE PEOPLE album with TERRORVISION. It's such a great album to sit back and listen to when you want to chill out & relax, but you will end up in an emotional mood by the end I guarantee you! This album is a great album if your depressed cause it's very inspirational towards mental health, depression in particular.

The Anti Album opens with the song "Sleep". The song makes me feel quite sad, the worlds are deep and give a sense of feeling like your going through an internal struggle & that's why your suffering insomnia and can't sleep. I know the struggle only too well. Your mind just wont slow down ruminating over shit you can or cant change, thinking about things going on in the past or present, you know how it it is. You just want to sleep to switch off for a while and not have to think about the situation. "Get It Wrong" is the 3rd song and opens with a smooth musical instrumental before Tony starts to sing bout getting it wrong, like all the time as if luck in life & love is stuck to him but it's not good, the luck stuck to him is bad luck. It brings a tear to your eye thinking "awwww poor Tony, I'd have you in a heartbeat & make it al better for you if I could!" Anyway, lets keep going haha...

The 4th beautiful song on "The Anti Album" is called "Buried You Deeper" is a ballad that sticks in you're head. Again opens with an instrumental & feels like Tony is being very observant about the fact that he can still see parts her after the burial & his troubles and strife seem to be as visible as the corpse. Basically it sounds like he's having regrets about not being able to bury someone or something deep enough. We are left wondering was it a pet that's passed away or is it more sinister haha? Tony, little tip for you for the next time you bury someone, dig at least 6 feet deep and when your done plant some phalaenopis michoitzii over the top soil, it's high up on the endangered species of flowers list so no one can dig it up .

"Dreaming I'm In Love" is one hell of a song! It's such a heart breaking tear jerking song. I really emphasize a LOT with the lyrics. "If I dream I'm in love why do I wake up alone?" is an amazing line cause I do just that, I have dreams now & again that I'm happy & I love then wake up alone in a double bed, and maybe a trouble shared really is a trouble doubled as he says, cause that's what happened to me recently. This has to be my personal fave song. "Heaven" is a topper of a tune. Tony is having an existential crisis & contemplating what he would ask if he could meet his spiritual creators. What would he ask his maker, questions to ask upon arrival perhaps? Personally I'd go on a rant about the life I've endured haha. I'd love to have the chance to ask morality a few things. Very catchy tune excellent lyrics Tony!

"Hearts And Minds" is song number 8 on the fucking awesome solo album by Tony Wright. It's a heart-wrencher of a song. It reminds us to embrace the good times and people in your life. You can't go back & change the past, as he says "I don't think think we'll ever get this time back again" He's telling us to raise a glass to the good people in your life. He has someone he wants to hold and squeeze tight, doesn't know how things could ever change. I think the lesson here is try to enjoy the people & things you have in life, cherish what you have cause you cant go back & you just never know when your times up & your no longer able have that luxury & privilege - it's called death...

The next song we have is "Cannonball" this song makes me want to cry. In fact it makes me want to give Tony a big hug & tell him we've all been there, in fact I'm there right now myself so reviewing this album is very therapeutic & cathartic to me, so thank you Tony, it's the first album I've reviewed in a long time. It's an inspirational song about depression. When you are at the bottom & the only way you can go is back up, but when others can offer you help, What Tony is pointing out is that you have to help yourself before anyone else can help you. Fantastic song I'm listening to a lot just now cause I'm in a very dark place & this alum is showing me a little light far away to aim for thank you again Tony. "Gamble Drink And Smoke" is the last song on The Anti Album. The song ironically starts with a line about getting a telegram from the queen discussing eternal life, the ironic thing is she recently passed away. The song is about treating life like one big fucking joke as Tony says. Gambling & drinking, growing your own weed at home, just the usual things he's always done the only live he's known so no way to change the habits of a life time, eh Tony? It's a great song to end an amazing album.

My overall thoughts on the album are that it's Tony's best solo work I've heard just as when with the band singing with TERRORVISION "How To Make Friends And Influence People" was the best bands best album. Its been played in my house over & over as I seriously can't stop listening to it! I'm actually getting an Alice What's The Matter theme tattoo by Mark Yates in March & I've made a special request about an album signing too so might get to thank them all personally for every album & certain songs from the guys & the solo music as I've been a fan from 15 years old & I'm 43.I also had the privilege of interviewing Leigh Marklew for Metal Temple, (link at the bottom). I was supposed to have been at 3 gigs in the last 2 years to watch them play then meet the guys for a signing but circumstances dictated otherwise. Roll on March 23! Anyway go buy "The Anti Album" & get it on I guarantee you will love it. It's an album that you can & I have listened to over and over. Tony, I'll see you at Mark's ink studio in March for the album signing! "The Anti Album" is also available on all major streaming platforms such as Spotify & YouTube etc.
