"Plasmodulated" is the debut demo from the band of the same name. Myk Colby is the sole member of the band. He plays uptuned, Florida-style death metal.

The first track, "Intolerable Stench Place," starts with ambient sci-fi sounds to set the stage. The vocals are low, guttural noises punctuated by low growls. They could be louder in the mix, but that's not a deal breaker. The hook is catchy, and the riffing is well done.

"Gross Cave" has a big, bombastic intro, followed by blast beats and more guttural vocals. This one has a killer breakdown, preceded by a wailing guitar. The main riff does a great job of driving the song forward. It slows down gradually, and the guttural vocals sound particularly disgusting. It eventually slows to a crawl and ends with a quick bass solo.

"Microscopic Horror" sets a mid-tempo pace, and the main riff is equally as catchy as the previous two tracks. It is also chock full of excellent breakdowns. Vocals are guttural as well. Unfortunately, this track sounds like the previous two and has little new to offer.

"Plasmodulated" starts with a slow, high-pitched riff, and the guttural vocals are especially grimy this time around. It doesn't have many lyrics, and the instrumentation is on point. Cody Davidson's solo is not to be missed, as it comes in before the song's cacophonous conclusion.

"Protoplasmic Transformation," the EP's final track, is by far its best. The guitar work is more technical, with lofty arpeggios and the same, previously established, catchy riffing. The guttural vocals fit in well with the music. There is even a bit of thrash thrown in for good measure. This song has the most variety on the EP as well.

PLASMODULATED has delivered a promising debut EP. The songs tend to sound the same the more you listen, but the output, while repetitive, is well done and fun to listen to for a few spins. Ultimately though, with nothing overly memorable, this one will be forgotten in due time.
