The Black metallers HELLSAW, hailing from Austria, strike back with their third full-length album Cold, which will be released in March 2009 for Europe and in April 2009 for the US and Canada, through Napalm Records. The official release will include 12 songs plus the track Wounds and, in addition to that, there will be a bonus DVD featuring HELLSAW's live appearances, as well as an extended photo gallery.
The band was formed in 2002 by Aries (vocals, guitars, bass) and Svart (drums) and made their first ice-cold attempt through Sins Of Might and, while receiving very promising feedback for their debut, they decided to work on their first full-length album. Spiritual Twilight was released in 2005 and HELLSAW began their tour in Europe, including their live appearance in Under The Black Sun festival in Germany. Two years later they joined the Flesh For Satan Tour headlined by INQUISITION and a few months later they released their second album Phantasm via Folter Records, which showed that the band was gradually making their mark in the Austrian Black Metal scene. HELLSAW continued with another European tour with SHINING and SKITLIV and added to their team Malthus and Isiul in the guitars and Desderoth handling the bass.
After signing with Napalm Records, HELLSAW are ready now to go one step further with Cold, an album title that totally justifies its music atmosphere. Shrieks and screams, continuous blast beats, raging guitar riffs, all combined together to create the familiar true Black Metal feeling. They do like to play a lot with intros in their songs and tracks used as intros for the next ones, but overall this is a really good effort from HELLSAW with songs like the short I Saw Hell, the opening track A Suicide Journey, the icy Der Harzwalt and the dark and ritualistic Cold Aeon standing out. I must point out the voice-overs in this promo are not that annoying, but still can be a real pain when you have to hear every once in a while someone saying ...you're listening to blah blah... and remain focused on the music.
Cold is a very satisfying album for the die hard fans of the genre and all those who support the Black Metal hellground of the North, so as the band said, time to get ready 'cause it's gonna be Cold!.
