One more Relapse release and I surely know what to expect. To tell you the truth I was kind of curious to listen to this band since there has been a big fuzz about them the last days and I thought that we had to face a new supergroup or something. I just want to send a message to all the labels out there. Stop trying to convince us that you found the next big thing. We are not stupid!
So, the band is pretty new and this is their first ever official release. Pennsylvania's HERO DESTROYED are one of Relapse's latest signings and they decided to debut with this EP, which contains approximately 22 minutes of music.
The band is the 'classic' Relapse Hardcore outfit that has no standard tempo and tries to sound like a mix between MASTODON, CONVERGE and THE DILINGER ESCAPE PLAN. They are not doing so bad, but the fact is that this sound has somehow become a trend and many bands try to copy it. They may have the technical skills, but only a few bands manage to sound original and differ from the rest of the Post Hardcore, Metalcore or how the hell you call it scene.
They are not bad, but HERO DESTROYED definitely need to work more on creating their own musical identity. I didn't get bored while listening to Hero Destroyed, but I don't know if it will end up in my CD player again for the time being.
