I Klatus - Targeted album cover

Metal maniacs, rejoice! I am proud to present to you: I KLATUS; signed via Dead Sage Records, hailing from the United States of America - performing Atmospheric Sludge/Doom Metal, on their 5th full-length album entitled: "Targeted" (released April 1st, 2022). Since formation in 2001; the trio in question have only 5 full-length albums in their discography so far entitled: "Borningroom" (released 2005), "Surveillance And Worship" (released 2008), "Kether" (released March 25th, 2013), "Nagual Sun" (released October 13th, 2017) & this here record of which I am introduced to. 5 tracks ranging around 28:17; I KLATUS arranges an intricately designed formula on some heavy-hitting Atmospheric Sludge/Doom Metal amalgamations.

Opening up with this mystifying soundscape of majestic swerve; "Solstice Of Wind" starts the record off with this ritualistic wave of lofty shrouds of other-worldly instrumentation, as a gritty flute merges with monolithic melody where bongs chime and female cords intrigue one with somewhat melancholic furore, intertwined with this striking pursuit on progressive rite of sacrilege... Until this spectral shrine of mythical bombast boisterously intrudes eardrums with rumbling pandemonium & trembling reverb within "Shitback And Halfway Damned", as stampeding malice bulldozes bones with volatile meatiness - as a clobbering foundation injects an infectiously primitive yet profound tightness of punchy weight, rampantly rompy stability & synergetic grinds in which slay with wildly rushing yet razor-sharp zeal from consisting vocalist/guitarist Tom Denney. His vocals soar with throaty raspiness, roaring with bleeding gutturals and growls as a concretely grunty bark bellows with strong but berserking groveling, while the riffing solidity towers with sonically seamless technicality and borderline furocity.

"Opium Cybord" demonstrates a harmonic attribute in blistering firepower expertise from audible bassist John E. Bomber, flickering his axe with thumpy maelstrom remedy & stridently swift nimbleness which rambunctiously piledrives with stompy precision on this steely malformation of riveting momentum on trampling territories of blitzkreig craftsmanship ability. Forging a complex hybrid in raw tremors that quakes with profusely robust yet sulfurous swarve, an experimental penultimate track distills a fluidly synthetic void of spacious tones within "Dance With The Skulls In The Church" - as powerhouse drummer Chris Wozniak batters his set with pummeling yet archaic and artificial impact. An immersively trippy surge impulses heads with this fuzzy but euphonic bizarrity, unearthing nothing but a polymerized swirl on trancey mobility. This salubrious yet captivating experience intrigues one with uniquely versatile solace amongst a blistering slab of solid roughness that mounts with vibrantly potent snappiness on a grand scale of post-rock sludge and doom metal symbiosis, fusing ambient hymns with oppressive yet ominously jarring moods of discordant desolation and somber twists of jumpy noise viscerality.

Overall concluding "Targeted" with the finale epic and titular track itself, a dynamic but dexterous crunch of pompous songwriting musicianship distributes a distinctively distinguished element in implementing symbolic vehemence with radically wicked yet flexible fundamental and superlunary rifts of uproar and echoing vibrations of tenor that will marvel your soul with wondrous effect. Bottom line; I am compelled to say that I KLATUS morphed an excelling execution in culminating these subgenres with mountainous sophistication, while nothing remains replayable personally... An enriching discovery certainly deserves a spin that's worthy for fans of them. Worthy of looking at should you fancy a disorienting listen of spiritual vibes among a feral collective, do check it out.
