If there is anyone who hasn't encountered the name JEFF SCOTT SOTO through his Melodic Rock and Metal travels, they must have been living in a very small bubble. This man has done so much during his career, up to now, where he is the singer for the brilliant SONS OF APOLLO and one of the vocalists for the annual TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHETRA tour. On top of that he also has had time to record "Complicated", a new solo album. and to make life easy for you; it's a corker.

Frontiers Records always has a way of linking people in a way that the music and lyrics work wonders. "Complicated" is another testament to this. But I have to say one thing, the title of the album doesn't fit the music. This is anything but complicated. This is straight forward Melodic Rock in optima forma. Because however I try, I just can't find anything wrong with the songs that have made in onto "Complicated".

The music is as straight as an arrow, very pleasant to listen to, extremely accessible, but most of all of a very high standard. And just when you think that is the last of the laureates to mention the best is still to be mentioned. Yes, of course, that is the simply brilliant voice of JEFF SCOTT SOTO himself. It really doesn't matter what you confront him with, he has a way of making sure he sings it in a way that can only be described as outstanding. He is like a chameleon when he opens his mouth, making sure the way he uses his voice fits perfectly to the music he is singing to at that point in time.

I have seen this man live a number of times, even from early on in his career. He has always been able to make the shows pleasurable memories, and I treasure them all. During those shows, I have heard him sing MICHAEL JACKSON, MADONNA, QUEEN and many others. The thing is, although he doesn't try to copy those artists he is able to make those songs sound as if they are his own. The same goes for "Complicated". It doesn't matter who wrote these songs, they have all adapted and accepted his voice are their own. And that, my Melodic Rock fans, is what makes a singer stand out from all the others. I am sold. Again!
