As these guys are from Seattle, Washington, USA I am expecting some degree of quality, as that is one of the cities that have harboured many a great band. A band that has risen from the ground in 2018 and has been making a name for itself is GREYHAWK. To me this is a True Metal Band that mixes traditional Metal with Power Metal and even some shredding. After releasing their debut album "Keepers Of The Flame" in 2020, they thought it wise to keep the momentum going, which resulted in the band recording and putting out the subject of this review, called "Call Of The Hawk". I don't know how the market is for this kind of band on the west side of the Atlantic, but I know one thing for sure: I can guarantee GREYHAWK that if they would venture to Europe and play the right countries, like Belgium, Germany, Spain and Greece they would easily make a killing.

The reason being that the way GREYHAWK are exposing themselves to the public would really grab our attention by the horns. "Call Of The Hawk" might only be five songs and some 22 minutes in length, it definitely appeals to the old-fashioned Heavy Metal lover, and there are a fair few in Europe as well as in South America. Like I mentioned, I have no idea if they would make an impression in their own area of North America.

As for the lyrics, it's about knights and other brave people from before, giving you the feel of horses on the battlefield and such. When listening to "Demon Star" the only way to describe the beat it uses is as Pony Metal. It has a galloping quality to it that just fits. And as far as the shredding goes, I can only confirm that there are some great riffs and very entertaining solos that fill "Call Of The Hawk". It only adds to the pleasure. Unfortunately the songs are a bit too mainstream, never veering too far off the centre. But that cab also be seen as a trait for GREYHAWK, and it is my belief that they see their efforts on "Call Of The Hawk" as just that, traits. Bugger all the clichés, let's just use what fits without even contemplating whether it has been used before or not. And that, my friends, is something I happily applaud. Well done GREYHAWK.
