Austrian Death Metal band DEMONICERA offers up their first EP Blasphemous Thoughts , with what hopes to be an established and long lasting lineup. Formed in 2015 by lead guitarist Rene Gattermain, the band started to take shape with rhythm guitarist Dave Remella entering the fray, bringing forth their first demo released in 2017, and track 3 of this EP, "Extinction Ov Nihil". They released "Butchered Alive" as a single in 2019, and with that, this EP and DEMONICERA themselves begin to become a force in Austrian Death Metal. With the emergence of talented drummer Moritz Pik, and bass player Mike Stöckl flexing his creative muscle in the band, DEMONICERA looks to bring it's chaos to the masses.

The starting track of the EP is the titled track "Blasphemous Thoughts". Coming together as the band's first demo, it is a fitting first glimpse into what you're getting yourself into with this EP and with the band in general. Sam Fernandez's unearthly growl and an earth shaking rhythm section has this opening track flowing with blasphemous power and is really well put together and complements the band. Continuing nicely into aggression with some catchy guitar work is the track "Butchered Alive", in which I get a sense that seeing this performed live will truly give you an understanding of DEMONICERA all being on the same page. With a constant 3:35 of sensory chaos and energy, even just listening leaves you needing to take a breath.

"Extinction Ov Nihil" is a headbanging track where Moritz Pik delivers the drums with intensity, and is matched with Dave and Rene's tandem guitars, which comes at you with force and rhythm that Sam's howls compliment nicely. As we near the end of the EP, for me personally, I believe the best was saved for last. This track shows the range that these musicians are capable of and that DEMONICERA should be very pleased with the outcome and what is left to come from them. "Vomit On The Grave Ov Christ" is the final track and I question if you are a lifeless corpse if you do not bang your head at some point during the first time hearing it. Well put together, although a bit more on the melodic side as compared to what you heard on the first three tracks, packs a powerful punch. Great surging drums and very well designed and placed guitars, with a very catchy guitar cycle towards the end, put the final touches on DEMONICERA first EP offering.

Blasphemous Thoughts shows to me the potential of a young band and what you can expect more of as they come out with other material and hopefully hit the road. This EP left me wanting more and checked all the boxes that I look for in a newer death metal band. I would recommend giving this EP a try and I will be keeping an eye out for them as time goes on.
