KRYPTOS is an experienced band that originates from Bangalore in India. Not exactly an area known as a proper hotspot for metal, but there you go. These four guys have been around for just about the whole of the 21st century, and "Force Of Danger" is their sixth full length album. And judging but what I'm listening to I really need to dive into their history. Because I'll give you a spoiler: I actually love this!
Let's talk about what this is all about, which is the music: have you ever wondered how a very young sounding Zetro Souza (EXODUS) would sound when singing with the mighty Accept as they sounded on "Breaker" and "Restless And Wild"? If you do, just have a listen to "Force Of Danger", as KRYPTOS will definitely give you quite the clue. This really takes me back to the time of my late teens, as I also hear some influences from the early years of SAXON, IRON MAIDEN coming through, mixed with many other NWOBHM influences from that time.
Opener "Raging Steel" does what it says on the tin. It's very fast and furious and the perfect start to a very pleasant album. The rest of the album is just a tad slower, but just as impressive. Sometimes the influences used are very obvious; "Dawnbreakers" could easily be named a remake of "Princess Of The Dawn". That doesn't matter one bit, because everything on this album is good. I haven't heard on bad song. So I'm content.
The only criticism I have about this album is that it only plays for about 35 minutes. I really do feel I wouldn't have minded if it would have been double that time. The only question is if KRYPTOS could have written so many good songs, so maybe it's a good thing they kept it this short. The length of an old fashioned vinyl album, which not surprisingly is making a spectacular comeback. Summarising the "Force Of Danger" album as a whole I must say that although I had never heard KRYPTOS before, they've made me a very happy man with their latest piece of music. "Force Of Danger" is a quality product that is taking me back to my youth, and even at my age I am headbanging like crazy. I'm sure I'm going to regret this tomorrow, when I'll surely have a stiff neck. But it's worth it. Definitely.
