Reinventing Time
All Seeing Eyes

ALL SEEING EYES is a Progressive/Heavy Metal band from the UK. "Trinity Road" was the name of their debut album, released in 2014. Now, seven years later, they return with their sophomore effort, titled "Reinventing Time," which contains eight tracks. "A Sequence of History" leads off the album; a fifteen-minute beast. It opens with a NWOBHM sort of Classical sound. The vocalist has that strong vibrato, sounding a bit like Blaze Bailey. Tender, melodic moments come in around the four-minute mark...unexpected but quite charming. Several time changes later and the song is completely different. Ah but those harsh vocals could have been left off the album.
"Angel Eyes" is a slowed down power ballad of sorts. Quiet and dark at first, it opens up a bit later, with emotive vocals and wonderous backing vocal sequences. "Ghosts of Yesterday" is another shorter, more straightforward song, beginning with does of wah from the leads. Bass guitar thumps away and the guys have another catchy hook here. Not too shabby at all. "Love is Illusion" is another slow, murky song with overly emotional vocals...at times it doesn't sound genuine. I am not sure what to make of the album so far. "Perspicacity" opens with a heavier sound and some solid drum fills. The song gets weighed down in the middle, again with harsh vocals that could have been left off the album.
"Proselytize" opens with a darker groove, and a bit of FATES WARNING influence, but again the sound is broken up without transitions. It's like grinding gears by shifting a manual transmission without the clutch. "The Gift of Madness 2" begins with a slow, easy sound from clean guitars, then the heavy, distorted ones drop. There is a decent amount of backing parts going on here, from the guitars to the vocals. But the despondent sound is just a bit too much. "This is Cypher World" closes the album, with a bit more energy and oomph. When they are on, they are on, but when they are off, things fall apart pretty quickly. The are on in this song.
Inconsistencies plague the album unfortunately. The combination of Classic tones with touches of modern class is interesting, and they are good at writing short hooks that grab your attention, as well as at times wonderful backing vocals. They are also fairly talented but seem to lose their way throughout some of the album. Take the components apart, and you can admire them. But put them in a song together, and they often don't make sense to me. Some wasted potential here.
