Get ready for URNE, a savage three-piece from London that just released their debut album, "Serpent & Spirit" on Candlelight Records. Normally I would roll my eyes at a three-piece and their debut album, fully expecting it to sound like some drunk college aged dudes recorded it in the van they're living in. But URNE have managed to shred through any expectations you have and give you a full, Heavy, Brutal sound and a kickass experience.

I absolutely love it when the vocalist is in the band. It makes them so much more likely to shut up and let the Music speak for itself. And we get a perfect demonstration of that in "Memorial," an instrumental track where the guys really show their musical stuff. That is not to say that Joe Nally is not a talented vocalist. If you need evidence of his vocal prowess you need look no further than track one. While at first my tender delicacies were jarred by his pitch, my ears settled into it and it was not long at all before I was absolutely enjoying myself.

"Desolate Heart" is a powerhouse of a track. Whether you're in a bad place or not you're absolutely going to want this one at top volume so it may appropriately shred your freaking face off. It's pure madness from end to end- energetic, Brutal, and filled with more zazz than your speakers can handle. Not only is it a great track instrumentally, we get treated to the full range of Nally's vocal capabilities from the gentlest of clean singing to full on raging and everything in between.

On the whole I was very impressed by these guys! This is a hell of a debut album. Their sound suffers no loss in fullness from there being only three members. They are clearly talented musicians. This is only the first of what will, hopefully, be many albums from URNE. Rock on, gentlemen.
