Paradox Community - Omega album cover

PARADOX COMMUNITY is a Prog Metal trio from Germany. I think the band have named themselves well because their chosen sound is a bit of a paradox. Let us pop in our earbuds and begin our journey through their new self-released album, "Omega".

We enter the album and I am immediately unimpressed. Yes, the band sounds decent enough. There's a melody, nice drum line, clear vocals. Our guys can play, for sure. But I'm really not hearing anything impressive. These guys sound like so many other bands. I don't hear anything that makes them stand out, really. They play well together, musically they have a good classic sound, and their vocals are nice and clear. But the vocal range is seriously limited and takes away from the whole quite a bit.

Not to say these guys aren't talented. But the more I go through this album, the more I feel like I'm listening to a cover band and not original works. They just have a cover band feel to them. I'm not sure who they're covering, but someone.

"Burning" plays and the band tries to go a little harder. Mirko Mucha tries some heavier vocals and I wish I could see my own face because I know I can't control my facial expressions and I would love to see the face I'm making right now. The instrumentals are decent? I mean, they're repetitive and while upbeat still pretty basic and boring. But the lyrics and vocals... Wow. I need to go take a walk or something and think about my life while I look at a lake at sunset. Because I just can't even right now.

I found myself really wanting to skip multiple tracks on this album. They're slow, boring, and un-im-press-ive. Yes, again, these guys can play. Buy why would they choose to play this?! It's lame at best. So I couldn't really help myself when "No Respect" came on but to talk back to the music. My friend, if you want respect, do something worthy of respect. Because this album most certainly is not it.

On the whole, I can't say I really found anything in this album that makes it worth checking out. These guys can mimic sound alright but it seems they haven't quite found their own thing to make them stand out from the crowd just yet.
