Pagan metallers EREB ALTOR are back with a bang. Bringing their unmistakeable brand of ruthless music in the form of their LP "Eldens Boning". The four track release delivers a short sharp punch of delectable Folk and Pagan metal that is sure to lift your spirits. The artwork plays more to the Folk styles, showing what looks to be some sort of pyre in a woodland.

Opening is "The Twilight Ship" and it sets a hell of a precedent for the remainder to follow. Silky smooth flowing instrumental tracking builds throughout, flowing seamlessly from section to section. This is complemented by the vocal prowess of Daniel. The track sits at over 7 minutes long, but it honestly flew by in seconds as I lost myself into the folds of musical delight. "The Twilight Ship" continues to build until its inevitable end. But think of its ending as more of a short interlude; before we are introduced to "Fenrirsulven". With a much more unsuspecting beginning, it is much more of, what I would classify, a traditional track. With what appears to be some culturally stereotypical sounds, vocalisations, and instrumental effects. "Fenrirsulven" may be more of a gentle track, but that really helps to emphasize its beauty, I would liken it a lot to something like "Artio" from ELUVEITIE or even some of WARDRUNA's tracks.

Don't be disheartened though. The intensity is still there in bags for this release, as the titular "Eldens Boning" erupts to life with aplomb. The relentless break neck pace of the track is absolutely breathless, but the depth and structure is impeccable. The track layering creates this really epic atmosphere, actually, the effects created somehow were reminiscent of some TYR tracks, I don't know If that's just me, let me know what you think! The final track "Sacrifice 2.0" continues with some intense Heavy Metal, that just continues to pound away at you throughout. The combination of haunting clean vocals, aggressive harsh vocals and the unwavering intense music just sends the LP out with a bang.

Overall, a strong release as I would expect from EREB ALTOR. The music is well written, expertly delivered and just flows well from start to finish. Folk Metal is one of the niches of the Heavy Metal sub genres, but I would challenge any fan of Heavy Metal to find something that they don't like within this release.
