Symphonic metal at its best can be heard in OSYRON's reissue of 2017's "Kingsbane". There is so much power behind the music and the vocals in this release it is sure to get them more recognition and will please fans of the original version. The reissue was remixed, remastered, and rearranged to involve all band members in the writing and to include the new drummer. The album is also completely produced and mixed by its band members.

Reed Alton's voice has so much power and beauty. At first, because of the heaviness and speed of the music, I found myself wanting screams and growls. But what Alton does with his voice is actually perfect for the music and makes it more unique. It reminds me just a little of Myles Kennedy with a more 80s metal sound. An awesome example of Alton's vocal prowess is in the third track, "Razor's Wind", at about the 5:05 mark. I also thought the acoustic version of this song (track 9) was really beautiful. It especially shows off his vocal abilities.

I did find the intro, "From Ashes", was a little too long for my tastes. It ties into the lyrical theme well, but I didn't think he needed to be 2:12 worth of medieval-sounding music, with no riffs or vocals. Every song on this album is much longer than a typical song, so it's definitely an epic adventure, which is also fitting for the theme. Speaking of the theme - I wasn't a fan of it either. It's a personal preference, but I prefer lyrics or concept albums to have relatable themes more than just straight storytelling. This is like a heavy metal fairytale. It's clear from the title, but the album has a very medieval, kingdom, royalty theme, which has never been something I'm interested in personally. Of course, you get the sense that there is a battle to be won from the beginning of this album. And it ends with victory in the final two tracks.

I enjoyed how each song ties into the next so effortlessly. For example, in "Razor's Wind", Alton sings "They'll know my name", and then in the next track "Kingsbane", the lyrics are "They'll know my name, Kingsbane." The lyrical writing itself is excellent. If you're into this type of theme, you'll definitely enjoy the storytelling. There's no denying the musical ability of this band. And overall, there isn't a bad song on the album.
