Obscure - NWOBHM Vol 3 album cover

OBSCURE "NWOBHM Vol 3" is an album of various artists. It features AXE VICTIMS, SAVAGE 79 & ZENITH. Axe Victims were a short lived band. They were together only 2 years from 1979 - 1981. They only released 1 demo of 3 songs. SAVAGE 79 is another band with a short career. Spanning just 1 year from 1979 - 1980, they also released a 3 track demo featur4ed on this compilation. ZENITH are the 3rd band featured on this album. They have a 5 track demo which closes the album. All 3 bands bring the NWOBHM some banging songs. The album is one which is easy to listen to & easy on the ears. The album has gathered songs by artists who truly capture the NWOBHM at its finest.

To give a little on the songs we have. AXE VICTIMS "Coachtrip To Hell" opens the album. It opens with some bass & quickly introduces guitar & drums to the mix. It's a classic NWOBHM track that makes you want to bop to the beat. "Rock In Peace" is the last song on the album by AXE VICTIMS. It is a song that instantly makes you move. The musicianship is top class & vocals are crisp & clean. The feel of the song brings the party vibes. Moving on to SAVAGE 79, "Children Of Tomorrow" is another banging tune. It opens with a flurry of guitars, bass & drums giving way to the vocal accompaniment. It sounds like a song that send a message to its listeners. Look after the planet. The song has a fine but long instrumental section. The song has memorable qualities. "Guardian Of Fate" is another track by SAVAGE 79 on the album. This song gives clean cut vocals and a superb instrumental.

ZENITH are the band closing the album with 5 tracks. We have songs like "Easier Said Than Done." This is a song which opens with guitars pumping hard. The song sounds like one which has been written with a lot of feeling & thought. There is a level of angst behind the lyrics. "Playing Games" is another song by ZENITH. It is a song that gets your head swinging & your foot tapping as you listen in. The last song by ZENITH is "Stab In The Back" which closes the album "NWOBHM." This one comes at you full force with bass and drums opening the song. The vocals quickly follow with anger & vengeance. It's definitely a revenge type song. The feeling I get is that the lyrics have been written with an enemy in mind.

Overall, I enjoyed the album. It encapsulates the whole NWOBHM perfectly. The compilation of these 3 bands has made a fine ass album. It is just a pity about disbandment as it would have been good to hear more from these bands. The album gives a chilled Hard Rock vibe which is great if you want something easy to listen to that is not to hard on the ears. The demos featured have been written well & performed with passion. I would say this album could be quite inspiring too. I have really quite enjoyed it.
