Metal maniacs, rejoice! I am proud to present to you: ILLNESS; independently unsigned, hailing from Norwegian/Polish grounds - performing Black Metal, on their 3rd EP entitled: "Schizophrenic Kingdoms" (released January 9th, 2021).

Since formation in 2001; the seasoned soloist in question has 2 Demos, 4 EPs; 2 Splits, and 5 Full-Length Albums in his discography so far. I'm introduced to the 4th EP entitled: "Schizophrenic Kingdoms", 5 tracks ranging at around 19:26, ILLNESS arranges an intricately designed formula on some heavy-hitting Black Metal developments.

Opening up with this mythical entrancement in trippy, spacious static. The swirling "Entrance" begins the record with kaleidoscopic intrigue in a fuzzy but synthesized outrè, until this orchestrated spectrum within "Insanity" unleashes this unique versatility on merging symbiotic contrast in classical instrumentation and blasphemously blackened malice. Progressively technical profanity revels with savagely sinister embrace, embodying an evil empowering trailblaze that surges with wildly rushing substance along  with organic vehemence. Gilner performs on all instruments, where the vocals stem with monstrously meaty raspiness & tight roars that soar with snarky shouting while gruesomely ferocious gutturals grovels with persistent yet towering perseverance.

"Black Schizophrenic Metal" opens up with this mist of foggy and gloomy winds until this spoken word ritual speaking of being exquisitely empty intrudes... until these mountainous strikes unearth a deadly synergy with these monolithic tempos while rapidly swift dexterity dynamically distils a chiselling attribute in gnarly distortion, and rampantly piledriving rumbles of reverberating rompiness. Where sulfurous maelstrom veracity slays with jarringly ominous panache, while scorching this visceral stability within the guitars that fret with sonically relentless seamlessness while this potently vibrant stability rips with scouring madness. Injecting an infectious venomous slab on some solidly sturdy thuds as audible bass that blisters eardrums into a barrage frenzy of punchy jumpiness, while momentous yet primitively raw roughness executes a borderline foundation in flamboyant firepower expertise & adventurous but  ambitious distinctives.

The penultimate belter: "Kingdom Of Rats" has a catchy but distinguished flair, but aligned with this majestic transformation on killer laceration & bizarre but synthesized machinations of groovy contrast that materializes this swirling vortex of electronic contortion that will sink into your skull unforgettably. Overall concluding "Schizophrenic Kingdoms" with a cover from the band THORNS entitled: "Ærie Descent", a dark snare of tormenting vocals and agonizing but quirky soundscapes while threatening this alarmingly fast virtuosity that quintessentially bleeds a concretely gritty grandeur on ruthless pandemonium that marvels with outrageous splendour in a speedy malevolence of twisted craziness.

Bottom line; ILLNESS offered this meticulous slice of evolving Black Metal mayhem that revolves through some complex diversities, and immersively intensive crescendos that showcase this arbitrary element in implementing vicious variety that will mesmerize while transfixing you with this lunatic fringe as extremely wicked, yet radical shift makes this EP an intriguing bombardment of things of come. Black Metal enthusiasts alike will most surely want to give this one a spin, and discover this one. It's like a unique spectrum on Black/Prog Metal fused into one neat package of surreal metamorphosis that juxtaposes with thrilling archetypes, and salubriously thrilling spectacles that make this certainly an enjoyably entertaining listen. Not for everyone, however...but Black Metal is a love it or hate it phenomenon afterall... check it out regardless, you'll be heavily surprised with the outcoming result.
