Ledfoot & Ronni Le Tekrø - A Death Divine album cover

If you are looking for something a bit different in these crazy times look no further than here.  What we have on offer is a collaboration that probably should not work.  Take the axe man from rockers TNT and pair him with the master of "Gothic Blues", the accomplished blues man known for his unique style, heck even BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN has covered one of his songs.  So these gents come from related, but different worlds, to produce some of the most ethereal, listenable, thought provoking mix of acoustic driven Americana with added balls.

If you're here expect wailing guitar solos and stadium posturing Euro Metal you may be disappointed, but I urge you to stay and immerse yourself in the truly different music these two have produced. Opening track "Cold Lonely Night" in some was is an odd opening track.  It is a laid-back, slow, mellow, restrained track, that builds up to Ronni's point-perfect solo over Tim's slide guitar, which simply blows you away.

"This Town" has more than a touch of in his prime, SPRINGSTEEN story telling Americana about it, the upbeat nature of the music underpinning the melancholy message of the words. There is an underlying almost menace to "High Time" conveyed in the words, but more so in the music.  The dichotomy between the wailing soloing to the rawness of the slide work so well together. "A Death Devine" has that similar feel, although it is a different song altogether.  There is this underlying, almost sense of unease at the back of the listeners brain, the music seems to have the knack of making the listener feel ever so slightly off kilter.  It is like how the best psychological thrillers leave you feeling.

"A Part Of Me", I actually don't knowhow to describe this song.  The breathless singing, the sublime guitars, be it slide work or the wistful picking, it is simply a thing of beauty. "Shut Up". What a track! Brooding, and yes that word again, menace, and then BAM! It hits you in the face when you were not expecting it! "Imperfect World", well there's the understatement of the year, and the lyrics and understated playing suit the title and feel too an absolute tee.  The hairs on the back of my neck stood up on my first listen to this bleak, despairing, black-hearted musical journey.  The did the same thing the second time, the third time, etc. I am writing this review on Halloween, and I don't think and horror story or film would leave me feeling as uneasy as this album, and this single track alone has left me disturbed with shivers running down my spine.  I have never heard anything like this before.

This leave us with "Open The Door".  Well it definitely doesn't get any happier! In fact in some ways it gets even more chilling.  That spoken word passage, might be short, but argh, and it the just ends, no fade, no refrain just done, gone! Leaving the listener emotionally drained. This is probably not going to be to everyone's taste, but if you like to be challenged, listen it is beyond good!
