DODSFERD is a black metal band based out Zografou/Athens, Attica in Greece. This is the reissue of their 8^th full-length album in 2013 entitled "The Parasitic Survival of the Human Race", released through the Fucking Your Creation Records label. I was not familiar with this band or the previous edition of this album. This is essentially a cassette-only reissue comprised of 6 tracks. The opener "Stachtes (Ashes)" with its heavy distortion and very gritty black metal screams is about as straight-forward as it gets in terms of thrash-based, old school black metal. It has some slower passages that are reminiscent of their counterparts ROTTING CHRIST. The song does dive into a fair share of repetition with countless blast beats.

"Breeding Chaos" begins with some riot noises (or possibly festival ones), to be honest it is somewhat hard to tell what the context is. The drums really have a demo sound to them this time around, as most of the song, especially with the more rock-oriented guitar riffs this time around. The vocals have a much old hardcore vibe to them as well (you could say the entire song is almost an ode to crossover punk). The contrast with the first track is incredibly high and almost hard to believe these 2 songs were recorded by the same band.

"Creator of Disease" has some fireworks effects in the introduction that transcend into somewhat of a cross between DARKTHRONE and SATYRICON except the vocal style is the same as the previous song which makes for a rather odd combination. Again, the tone of the song is very much akin to the 1980s bay area thrash scene. To be fair, there is nothing really note-worthy of the song other than its rater aggressive approach. Following with the trend of sirens, noises and crowd effects, the song "Stupid Worthless Sheep" has a slower tempo but the same dirty guitar sound and angry-adolescent vocal style with some higher pitch screams drowned in some distortion effects (something similar to what is used in the band MIDNIGHT).

"Doubting Your Worth" really sounds more like your traditional SATYRICON song, based on a simple song structure that uses the same pattern over and over, with slow-picking and a more traditional metal/punk undertone. Last, we have the closing song which happens to be a MISFITS cover in the form of "We Are 138". I will say this, the song is very up-tempo and fast. I was not familiar with the original but the rendition here definitely sounds like it followed the template of what made the latter so popular in the punk genre.

The album was definitely not what I was expecting, considering the band is labeled as black metal. The EP is fused with a lot of punk and old-school thrash and traditional metal elements. Overall, there is a consistent amount of energy in every song, but I would say the simplicity in the structure and riffing does not make any of the songs actually stand out. The added effects in every song probably contribute to that similarity between the tracks. It is not a bad EP but does not really count as much of an evolution in the genre.
