WICKED SISTERS is a "Misanthropic Goth Ridden Doom" band, from Sydney Australia. With very few Facebook likes, they are either relatively unknown, or new to the scene. "Wired_Backwards" contains three tracks, so it must be an EP. "D.O.G." leads off the album. It opens with some atmospheric tones and they an ultra-heavy guitar riff drops from out of the sky like a massive meteorite, destroying everything in a 500-mile radius. It pauses, gathering steam for the main sound, which is faster in pace. The vocals are absolutely horrid and the sound is cold and sterile, as liquid nitrogen would be. From there, it slows again, with a Doomy feeling as if the end of the world is coming.

"Straightrazor" is a short, one-and-a-half-minute song, with a vile feeling from brief conversation and these "booms" in the background. "Advanced Delusional Schizophrenia (with Involuntary Narcissistic Rage)" is an ode to the movie, Me, Myself and Irene. It moves forward fairly quickly with a linear riff and raging vocals. Suddenly it drops to just piano and some background ambiance, building a nefarious tone. Then, the riff returns, darker and more pronounced, with a slow, intense rage, and pick slides down the fretboard for further enunciation. The Doom elements come in very strong towards the end of the song, with a repeated pattern of an agonizing riff, and tortured vocals.

Overall, it was tough to gage an essentially two-track album, but it peaked my interest enough to want to hear more from the band for sure. A few things stood out for me...the heavily distorted guitars that sound like they were played inside a metal cage, the heavy, Doomy undertones, and the sterility of the guitars and bass. They are really onto something here and as I said, I would love to hear more. Locating a producer would be the next big step.
