On June 25, 2020, DEAD CARNAGE released their second full-length album "From Hell For Hate." DEAD CARNAGE is a Death Metal band from the Czech Republic. Formed in 2013, they released a debut EP titled "The Only Thing I Ever Wanted Was To Kill The God" in 2015. Shortly after, they their first full-length album "Flesh, Blood, Orgy" in 2017.
DEAD CARNAGE's style of Death Metal is straightforward and unencumbered by symphonic elements or over technicality. Each track has a straightforward song structure and simple riffs. There is a great constant low-end growl on every song. The drumming is great at keeping the quick pace of the album, but doesn't offer much in terms of interesting drum patterns or fills. The album has a clean production, but I found myself wishing that the production was a bit more raw, because that would give the album an edge.
The opening track "Edges Of Manipulation" is a fine indication of what to expect from the rest of the record, but doesn't stand out from the rest of the tracks. At around the third track, "Caged Brutality," the album starts growing on me. "Caged Brutality" is fast and energetic, though still straightforward and simple. The following tracks "My Blood Is Black" and "God´s Lobotomy" are similarly high energy and also kick ass. "Chapel Of Decay" has a quick instrumental section that slows down considerably, a great moment for headbanging.
Towards the end of the album, "From Dust" slows back down, which is a great move, in my opinion. Changing up the speeds is a good way to maintain the listener's interest, especially considering the relative simplicity of the riffs on this album. The closing track, "Eternal Void," is a cover of the HIEROPHANT track of the same name. As a cover, it's good. It's shorter than the original, but keeps the main riff and the general atmosphere. As a track on the album, it blends in with the rest of DEAD CARNAGE's original tracks well and doesn't stick out as an obviously different style.
Overall, I recommend "From Hell For Hate" for Death Metal fans. It's a consistently good album, each track has a great energy. However, as much fun as this album is, none of the tracks are particularly memorable. I wish one or two of them had a solo, more tempo changes, or some varied drum patterns.
