SLOMOSA is a "tundrarock" band based out of Bergen, Norway. Their Facebook and Bandcamp pages were fairly bleak, not listing the line-up of the band, or much information about the album. The same can be said for their label, who didn't have much information about the band or the album. So, we're going to have to let the music do most of the talking here. The album contains eight tracks.

"Horses" leads us off, with a steady and groovy guitar riff. I am not crazy about the vocalist. He sort of shouts for the most part, and doesn't use vibrato. It's just a bit too simple for me. They could really use some thickening up of their sound. "Kevin" is a shorter song, under three-minutes in length. Again, reliance on a simple riff and those uninspired vocals don't do a lot for me. "There is Nothing New under the Sun" is another simple sounding song. Are their bands who purposefully hold the "less is more" approach to music? They just sound like a garage band who just find a riff and jam on it, with no solos or much of anything from the vocalist...kind of pop-pink in my mind.

"My Mind's Desert" at least has an interesting riff. The album is improving...a little...but this is an odd find for me for Apollon Records, who specialize a lot in Progressive music. The guitar work is a little better in this song. "Scavengers" is an over six-minute song. It drags out like a free jam for much of the song, with little vocals. "Traktor" is another easy listening song with one riff and where the vocalist stretches into the upper ranges a bit. I can see why the band identifies as "tundrarock," because there is an element of Stoner Rock present here, especially in this song. "Estonia" is another mid-tempo song where the riff reaches out just a bit, exploring a little. It is unlike any of the other tracks in the sense of the chords used, but the vocals are mostly the same.

"Psychonaut" closes the album. It's another over-six-minute song. It opens with that Desert Rock feeling...smooth and mellow tones...and then finds the main riff. From there, the sound drops to nearly gone altogether, with hushed vocals. It waxes and wanes through the end. Overall, it is just very difficult to champion much here, because there is very little sound overall. I get that is part of the genre...and I grew up with Hard Rock/Glam bands like KISS, VAN HALEN, and BOSTON, but they had hooks and big choruses. That is really what is missing here, perhaps by design, but it makes for a very boring listening experience.
