A Solitary Plan
Thomas V Jager
THOMAS V JAGER is from Gothenburg, Sweden and he brings us the new album "A Solitary Plan" to us on May 8th 2020. The Doom Metal singer best known for being the vocalist/guitarist for MONOLORD brings us 7 new songs on the album to sink our teeth into. The album is a bit of a heartbreaker, if you want a family & don't have one, then this album will help you know your not alone. The album deals with a lot of issues personal to Thomas, including death. It's a powerful & emotional album. The MONOLORD singer was sketching some songs out on his acoustic guitar when he was asked to send them to Riding Easy Records chief Daniel Hall who immediately wanted to release the music as an album rather than as Thomas intended, just to let them sit on his computer. This was the right move to make as the album is shit hot.
Opening the album is the title track "A Solitary Plan." The acoustic guitar opening this song is stummed lightly and plays us into the song gently. The song has a simple tempo that carries the listener into the feel of the album, it's light musically & is upbeat & positive in it's vibe. Song number 2 is called "Creature Of The Deep" and is a song that comes together in haunting fashion. The acoustics & synth play together in such a way that they bring harmony to the ear. Lyrically, the song gives strength to the listener as the crescendo reaches a peak, giving hope. "From The Ashes" is song number 4. It's one which has the image of strumming the guitaring front of an open fire, coals roaring in flames of orange & gold. It's a song that reminds me of trying times & having to overcome loss. Closing the album "A Solitary Plan" we have song number 7 which is called "The Bitter End." This song has a long instrumental play in, which is heavier than some other songs on the album. It's quite emotionally deep lyrically. This matches the feel of the music, heavy on the heart strings. The music is played in such a way that it really draws you in.
Overall I really did enjoy the album "A Solitary Plan." It's a fine example of how an acoustic guitar can create such a beautiful album. The vocals of Thomas V Jager are on point. This album is very deep on an emotional scale and is a great "your not alone" album. The album deals with several issues from loss and death to hope & inspiration. I would highly recommend the album if you like Acoustic Metal as the music is really good to listen to. The lyrics are written with heart & from the soul, Thomas can be heard in some songs with the emotion he feels coming through & the passion with which he plays being ever present. It's an album not to be missed!
