Deathstyle - Deathstyle album cover

I am sorry to say something like this, but the effort that has been put on the visual part of this album is totally amateur. The cover sucks (and it is probably an image they found somewhere), the logo is a result of classic fonts and the printing's quality is less than mediocre. Even though I had negative opinion on Deathstyle before I even listen to it, I tried to be calm and listen carefully to what these guys have to say.

The band hails from Thessaloniki, a town in northern Greece. The band has no other releases under its belt, so I suppose that this is their debut album. DEATHSTYLE decided to release their album all by themselves, for reasons that I don't personally know. The band is currently playing live and preparing for its second full-length effort.

The Greek metallers DEATHSTYLE are offering a mixture of 'modern' Metal bands such as MACHINE HEAD, DEVILDRIVER, THE HAUNTED and many more (with the necessary amounts of PANTERA of course), creating a style that I have come across many times nowadays. Many people try to sound modern and unique, ending up in the same pit, the pit of mediocrity. In my humble opinion, both the clean and the brutal vocals, need a lot of work, since Chris B. didn't manage to convince me about his vocal abilities. This guy can surely become a great singer, but he just needs to learn how to control his voice.

The production is slightly good, something that saves the day for DEATHSTYLE, but the band manages to disappoint the listener with several irrelevant moments, like some out of the blue IRON MAIDEN elements I came across. I believe that the band needs some time to find its own identity and develop a sound that is based on DEATHSTYLE, not everything that sounds good to somebody's ears (except if he is so good that he can mix elements that have nothing in common).
