The Difference Engine
Dam

To tell you the truth, I didn't know anything about DAM. It's the second album from this death metal band from London and it's time to put the CD in my player to listen what those guys have to say.
DAM (that means blood in Hebrew/Arabic) was formed in 1998. After several changes in their lineup, six to be exactly, and three demos, they singed with Candlelight Records. Purity [The Darwinian Paradox] was the debut album for the band in 2005. After two years and their last lineup change, with Brad behind the drum kit and Daniel taking the bass, they record their second album The Difference Engine.
These guys play death metal with some black metal touch. The compositions of the album are mid tempo with some faster parts and the voice of Nathan is not something special. The tracks are uneven and nothing vivid...There is something missing and furthermore, DAM has to make clear what kind of music they want to play. Some bands managed to play a mixture of death and black metal, but DAM is not one of them. If they want to make a breakthrough and go one step forward, they have to work hard in almost every point of their music.
The Difference Engine didn't manage to make the difference. Not a bad album, more like an average one. Some good ideas save the day, but they have a long way to go in order to take obtain general recognition.
