BENEATH OF THE MASSACRE hail from Montreal, Quebec, Canada. This is their 4^th full-length album and the first since 2012. They have changed drummers since and hired Anthony Barone formerly of SHADOW OF INTENT. The Deathcore band goes back to the style of ''Dystopia'' and it might not be the best idea. This album was really not well reviewed nor received by the public and the Deathcore elements are back in the forefront nonetheless.

I was expecting something like their first album, some Technical Death goodness but it turns out it was pretty much put on the backburner unfortunately. There is so many great Technical Death Metal bands locally, it's pretty mindboggling to say the least. The quality of the musicians out there is on par with any country I kid you not. We have bands like AUGURY, MORBID PROTOTYPE, AETERNAM, HANDS OF DESPAIR among countless others.

BENEATH THE MASSACRE have been at it for over 15 years and have been lost in the shuffle pretty much. The singer Elliot Desgagnés doesn't help the cause of the band and his Deathcore-influenced growls just get on the nerves and quite quickly as a matter of fact. I do want to add that Anthony Barone does a fine job for the band and definitely brought an influx or energy to the band and he shows off his talent pretty well on this album. He replaced Justin Rousselle I believe and he is the best part of this band barnone.

I mean I may have had too many high expectations and maybe some other bands have surpassed them throughout the years. Those breakdowns were a bit too much for my taste unfortunately. There were so many breakdowns and the focus of most of these songs are based on this. It really gets repetitive and it gets really hard to listen. However the production is fine, it could have been better, I mean after 8 years you would think they would have taken their sweet time! I felt the instruments were a bit too loud and the bass guitar seem to be a out of tune.

It was rather a disappointment, especially after 8 years and doing the same thing they did over 10 years ago and they seem have to have recycled themselves again.
