Gorevent - Fate album cover

Formed in Niigata, Japan in 2004, GOREVENT has released their fifth full length album "Fate". This is a follow up to their well received album "In The Face Of..." which found quite a fan base. GOREVENT is a very well put together Brutal Slam Death Metal band, that is leaving their mark across the globe. This five piece band is made up of Gokucho on Vocals, Suguru and Kasahara on Guitars as well as Takasick on Bass and Metadon on Drums. This eight track album is sure to get your metal heart pumping for sure!

"Fate" begins with the first track entitled "Confront" which is some of the grimiest metal I have heard in a long time. The vocals are enough to turn your brain to mush, but when you add in the instruments, your head is likely to explode. Up next we have "Justice" which picks up the pace a bit for a few seconds and then just kicks back into some truly sludgy Death Metal. This track is filthier than jumping into and wading in a pig pen. "Keep It Tightening" absolutely made my eyes roll into the back of my head whilst making the Jens Kidman face. Absolutely nasty... "Swell" is one track that stood out to me. This song makes you want to just get up and bang your head straight through your wall until your house is demolished. It was by far one of my favourites off the album. "Energies" is as intense as it is filthy. This one really takes the cake in my opinion. Everything from the vocals to drums were absolutely incredible. "Round 13" kinda took us back to a slower pace but still had an intensity to it that is hard for me to put into words. This is one of those songs that you could either just stand and bop your head to, or you could tear up in the pit. "Fate" is by far the darkest song on the album and another I will say is in my top favourites. This song is a must listen to for people who love this style of metal. The final song "Day To Head" honestly sounds completely different from the rest of the album. I was not expecting such a fantastic song to end the album with.

All in all, I think this album was a whole lot of fun and a really good listen. I feel like this band has a great future ahead of them and I can't wait to see what's in store for them. If you are a fan of sludge and Brutal Death, this may just be one of your favourite albums of the year so far. Congratulations GOREVENT on such a brilliant album!
