Steelbound
Ignited
IGNITED, formed in 2017 in Brazil, play Heavy Metal in the vein of JUDAS PRIEST, IRON MAIDEN and BLACK SABBATH (Tony Martin era). "Steelbound" is their 1st independently released album. "Ignition" gets things going with a head banging opening shot. Think "Painkiller" from PRIEST and you will not be too far off. "Pain" and the title tack "Steelbound" continue down a similar musical path, Denis Lima can hit the high notes like Mr Halford in his pomp.
But that isn't all the band are about, "Living In The Dark" is a highlight on the album, with a feel of the aforementioned Tony Martin era SABBATH. And "Call Me To Run" has a MAIDEN feel about it. I mean no disrespect by this it shows they have good strong influences, but have their own take on the genre. "Times" shows a different side to their sound, with a different style to the vocals, and some fantastic guitar, shows they can do light as well as straight ahead metal. Whereas "Ground Pounding" is a big slab of, well pounding rock. A very straight forward song, but it works very well indeed.
The pair of "Shining Void" and "Roaring Gears" are a bit of a shift back to the PRIEST sound, before the closing track "Rotting" I think gives the listener a taste of the future sound of Ignition. A much more modern metal sound, with some very interesting and distinct vocals. I think this shows evolution in their sound, which will carry them forward. A small criticism was the sound. The bass and drums needed to be bigger, and personally I think a 2nd guitarist would add depth to their sound. But in the right hands of a sympathetic producer and engineer, the 2nd IGNITED album will be one to look forward to.
