BOMBUS is a Swedish band that mix a little bit of Melodic and Progressive Metal with some aggressive vocals. They have three guitarists in the band and I must say that the guitar work is impressive. They have recently released their newest album "Vulture Culture" through Century Media Records.
The opening song from the album is "A Ladder - Not A Shovel" and it starts out with a great guitar work that constructs beautiful melodies and ambiances. There's a long intro, but its definitely an interesting one. The vocals hits in and its more aggressive and there's a lot of drive on it. The guitars feel a little bit Punky as well. I liked how the vocals turns into something more clear in a determined part of the song. "(You Are All Just) Human Beings" starts out with a cool guitar riff that its totally Power Metal and it will make you guys bang your head. This song has a lot of great melodies and even some clean guitar sound parts. The vocals here sound a little bit desperate and I think that was a cool thing.
"Mama" starts differently from the previous songs and it has a kind of New Metal guitar riff and the bass n' drums here are so heavy. The backing vocals here are different as well and it's a very different song. "It's All Over" starts with some gloomy guitar sound and an emotive and deep vocal. There's a really inspiring solo here and it's just beautiful. "In The Shadows" actually brings you out of the sadness from the previous song. It has a lot of heaviness and there's a great groovy kind of guitar here. This song reminded me a little bit some alien sounds at some parts. "We Lost A Lot Of Blood Today" has a great guitar riff that will make you starting banging your head as soon as it starts. There's a great vocal lines on the stanzas and it's probably one of the best songs on the album.
"Vulture Culture" is the title track of the album and it starts with a kind of Thrash Metal riff and unbelievable drums. There's a lot of dynamics on this song and the guitars are just awesome. "Two Wolves and One Sheep" starts out with a kind of horror movie guitar riff and even some guttural on the background, but then it hits you in with some melodies that makes a counterpart to the dark ambiance. This song has a nice ambiance and variety of part. "Feeling Is Beliving" is the song that closes the album and it starts out in a totally 80's Thrash Metal kind of sound. By far that's the most different song on the album and I'm not sure why they wanted to say with this one. But it's a good one.
BOMBUS have written and released a great album with a lot of different influences here. The guitar work is just implausible and all the other instruments are really great as well. The production is tight and the songs are well written.
