Puerto Rico is a place which, as far as I'm aware of, might not be as notorious in the Heavy Metal scene in comparison with  regional neighboring countries such as the USA and Brazil. Now, while that fact may be true, it doesn't mean that Puerto Ricans don't possess the potential to create fantastic music; PARICIA'S PATIENCE, a Puerto Rican up-and-coming band from Caguas - is one example of how full of potential these people are.

Being my own introduction to Puerto Rican Heavy Metal, PARICIA'S PATIENCE's self-titled debut EP is as potent as an Eccentric Heavy Metal can be, especially given it is the band's first steps into professional music creating. This four-track-long EP essentially combines a Caribbean-influenced classic guitar sections and virtuous progressive elements throughout the record. Generally speaking, these four tracks share the same style and attitude - which is fairly well-made, again, considering it's a debut album from a relatively-remote island. The production and mastering is accordingly lackluster, but overall audible and particularly enjoyable in the instrumental intersections, where the Vázquez guitar-duo shine. The compositions that are presented to us, the listeners, on this record, prove that PARICIA'S PATIENCE are, indeed, prone to pushing themselves further with more experience fostered and the dynamics of the band as a whole nourished and idealized.

Ultimately, PARICIA'S PATIENCE's debut record leaves the listener longing for further improvement and specialization, as these Puerto Ricans prove of their capability. It is a tad too short in duration, and a slightly too long in the length and the progression of the tracks - but regardless, this record contains a solid proof that the Caribbean Metal is very much alive and is slowly showing its true colors and strength.
