16 years and 5 albums later AIRBOURNE are still running wild. With their most recent release of "Boneshaker" the Australian Hard Rock outfit have once again demonstrated that they have no desire to slow down their party. Like Heavy Metal clockwork the group have churned out an album every three years since their first studio album "Runnin' Wild" back in 2007.

The album itself is stereotypical of AIRBOURNE, by that I mean you could almost be forgiven for mistaking them for AC/DC circa 1981. I say almost forgiven because listening to "Boneshaker" is like listening to stripped back Heavy Metal in all her glory, fast paced, relentless and raw.

The tracks themselves are all what we have come to love about AIRBOURNE delivering time and again the rip roaring, foot tapping aural delicacy. For those who want brutal songs of death and despair CANNIBAL CORPSE are off grumbling to themselves somewhere. Whilst those who are looking for something slightly more progressive TOOL's new album is still being worshipped by their following.

The sound of each track is very much in line with what the track titles suggest. "Boneshaker" opens with thumping beats and strong intro; it opens the album flawlessly. "Burnout the Nitro" sets the trend with a rumbling reminiscent of a Ford Mustang to open the track followed by a fast-paced driving rhythm. "Sex to Go" doesn't mess about, with a styling that will remind you of an old sultry blues classic. If anyone missed the metaphor here, fast food means sex.... Anyway, onwards and upwards. "Backseat Boogie" strikes me as though it is the middle ground between AC/DC's "It's a long way to the top" and LED ZEPPELIN's "Rock and Roll" it is a great feel good song, that just invites you to get up and dance. Finally, "Weapon of War" is my track to watch on this album, its slightly different in its lyrical writing. Exploring PTSD with its initial open monologue; this is as close to a politically charged track as you will find from AIRBOURNE. However, the various different tracks within this song work together to build a slightly harrowing and distressing sound to reflect the theme of the track.

My two picks of the album are both "This is Our City" and "Rock 'n' Roll for Life", they are the anthems of this album. However, you would more likely find these being belted out of drunken lungs down the local bar. They are both strong songs that will be a favourite at live shows I'm sure.

Overall "Boneshaker" is a fast paced and free flowing album that is massively enjoyable. It is stereotypical of what we would think when we think of AIRBOURNE, hitting out some crowd pleasers and instant classics and that, that is exactly what we want from this album.
