LES CHANT DU HAZARD is probably one of the most different bands that I have ever heard. At first I thought that it was something really weird and I couldn't get the intention of the sound, but after second listen I was already enjoying it a lot and I probably have listened to a very unique music. For those who doesn't know what this band is all about, imagine a Black Metal band without bass, guitars and drums and instead of these instruments you have a great orchestra playing and the guttural vocals from the style. That's what this band is all about and they have recently released their newest album "Livre Second" and that's what we are going to talk about.
The opening track is "Chant I - Le Bossu" and it starts with a great orchestra sound that creates a very tense mood and you will probably find yourself in somewhere back in old France. The guttural vocals hits in and it just perfectly for the sound the orchestra creates. "Chant II - La Marche" starts out with a beautiful violin and cello and I believe that this song made a great contrast with the previous one, because it does sound more peaceful and its really inspiring. You will feel cheered up. "Chant III - Thelxiope" starts out with a very dark and low orchestra that created a really good ambiance for what's about to come. That song sounds darker and it feels a little bit deeper as well.
"Chant IV - Le Voleur d'Yeux" starts out with the guttural vocals and the orchestral hits in supported by some vocal choirs in the background. There's even some lyrical opera vocals here and they sound desperate. "Chant V - La Marche" starts out with beautiful vocal choirs and it feels a little deeper and tense, it seems that the act is becoming darker. "Chant VI - La Course" starts out with some orchestral sounds that will make you feel tense and anxious. The vocals gave the experience a whole new dynamic as they feel desperate and lonely. "Chant VII - L'Eveil" starts out with a different ambiance from the previous songs and it has a little bit more of a tense feeling but at the same time its mixed with a peaceful thing.
"Chant VIII - La Marche" starts out with a calm sound and beautiful low vocal choirs that are supported by the strings and the song grows until it hits its higher level. "Chant IX - La Défaite" is the song that closes the album and it starts out with some nice, deep and tense orchestral sound, but its soon followed by a sweet sound that is mixed up with the desperate guttural vocals, which I think that gave the song a good dynamic. The song grows and hits its higher level of epicenes and I think that was cool.
LES CHANT DU HAZARD has written and released a great Orchestral Black Metal album. I must say that I am impressed by the results and that I never thought of listening to something like that before. I would love to see it live at a Theater and enjoying all the sound and visual experience that this album offers. Its unique, epic, emotional and pure. Listen to it with eyes closed and you will have a much better experience.
