STEINBOCK is a band from Spain that plays something between Heavy Metal and Thrash Metal, which is pretty cool. They have recently released their newest album titled "Till The Limit" and that's what we are going to talk about.
"Trash" is the opening song from the album and it starts out with some drumming and characteristic Thrash Metal guitar riffs. The vocals reminded me a little bit of METALLICA. "Gamble Man" starts with a nice groovy guitar riff that is energetic and really good. The guitar solo on this one is awesome and there's totally a Kirk Hammet feeling here.
"War" starts out with some more Thrash Metal riffs and aggressiveness. This song has a lot of good riffs and again, it reminds me of what METALLICA did back in the 80's. It's a good song and definitely influenced by the American thrashers. "Beer" starts with the sound of a bar, opening bottle and some claps and cheering. The riff here is really groovy and will make you bang your head as soon as it starts to sound. The chorus is good and cool. "4 Vices" starts with a good bass riff that is followed by some guitar solo and this song has a different dynamic from the previous ones, its crossing further into Heavy Metal and I liked that. There's a great guitar role on this song and some cool vocals as well.
"Keep It On" starts with a clean guitar sound, which is something different from all the rest that we can hear on this album. There's a nice ambiance created by the instruments here and its a little bit of a ballad. The vocals sound good here and it's a good song. "Break It, Split It" starts with a very cool guitar riff that could easily be part of some Power Metal song. There's something more on this song and I liked that it sounds a little bit different from the previous song. "Jump!" is the song that closes the album and it starts with a cool drum, bass and guitar riff. This song reminded me of the far West and I don't know why. There's a riff here that I'm pretty sure that I have listened in a METALLICA song. I liked the song.
"Till The Limit" is a good album with songs that could easily be released under the name of METALLICA. The instruments were well played, the production was good and the songs were well written, but it certainly sounds like a copy. The vocals are a lot similar to James Hetfield and the instrumental too. The band has a lot of potential and I think that they should focus on developing more their own style, because they would sound great on their own.
