Theater Control Law - DEMO
Damnation

Damnation is a Greek act from Kilkis, a city I know well since I spent 9 months there during my military service, so hail! Just because of this fact I demand that Metal Blade offers them a contract (hahaha). But not just because of that! This demo is a really good one.
Damnation originally formed in 1999 by Angelos and Nontas but established a complete lineup in 2000 when Costas joined them (recently the band has added Cosmas on guitars). Since 2000 the band has been apart of many live shows and competitions. A very positive part is that they waited for a very long period in order to release a demo. Most acts record and release a demo even in their first months of existence. This shows a proper maturity by them. I also must praise them for the very good job they have done in the packaging of their work since it comes in a very nice double cardbox.
Theater Control Law contains four compositions carefully walking the fine line between Thrash and Death Metal. This is a 50% - 50% deal where the frenzied parts are blended together with groovy ones in an almost flawless way. The U.S. scene's aura floats above the compositions. Thumbs up also go to the last track, Balance, a really murky instrumental piece of work.
Though short in duration (just a bit over twelve minutes) Theater Control Law is a fine example of how new bands should work. Take your time, focus on your music, practice, compose and wait till you find the proper maturity before releasing anything in this world. Damnation can be considered as a force to reckon with in the Greek extreme Metal scene.
