Kêres - Ice

Metal maniacs, rejoice! I am proud to present to you: KÊRAS; signed via Terratur Possessions, hailing from Finnish grounds - performing Black Metal, on their 4th album entitled: "Ice, Vapor And Crooked Arrows" (released August 21st, 2019).

Since their 1st Demo in 2004; the soloist in question has at least 20 Demos, 6 Splits; 1 Collaboration, 4 EPs and 4 albums in their discography so far...I am introduced to the 4th album entitled: "Ice, Vapor And Crooked Arrows". 9 tracks ranging at around 42:19; KÊRAS arrange an intricately designed formula of heavy-hitting Black Metal developments. "Dream Of Clouds" begins the record; conveying an incredible amount of distortion, where the guitar fretwork bombards eardrums with screeching noise. Luckily everything is audible; amplified with adrenaline, atmosphere & boistrously bouncy crunchiness. Fabricating a fuzzy element; implemented into a barraged frenzy of flamboyantly composed hymns in which wonder with uniquely versatile vehemence, and concretely gnarly distinctions.

Consisting of Atvar on everything; the soloist performs with consistent diligence, creatively dynamic grit & complex detail. "The Sleeper Master" forges high-pitched lungs; pipes that yell with rawly rough raspiness & profusely robust ramifications that injects infectiously deep guttural growls, and venomous screaming. The guitars generate intense firepower; chugging gallops, and frolicking chaos. Manifesting meticulous rhythms, rapidly swift nimbleness & seamlessly sonic retribution. "At The Arch Of Victories" embellishes on experimental embodiments of foggy ambience; amalgamated with speedy haste, hostile savagery & quintessential momentum that showcases solid rituals of thunderously volatile pursuits of rambunctious melodies with primitive results.

"Grail Dance" distributes distinguished characteristics of bass thumpiness; stompy pummelling, and an adroit aesthetic of battering drums...hammering with organic substance with wildly rushing yet razor-sharp stability. For an independent musician; making Black Metal on your own must be a persevering task, and honestly - the record so far is daunting as it is professional. "Into The Underworld" contrasts into a fierce maelstrom of trailblazing subjugation; juxtaposed with jumpy grooves, extreme combustion & a borderline foundation of punchline snappiness – revolved with quirky talent & pulsating potential. Shredding with rip-roaring rage yet sometimes transistions with hints of folk-esquire melodies, symphonic malevolence & ambient attributes especially in "Moon Guide" & "Instrumental".

"The Tall Ones" flourishes into a conceptual formulaic of contortion; necro, and rotten soundscapes that supply ruthless pandemonium with potent deadliness & barbaric vibrancy. Varied with progressively technical viciousness, while oozing out ominous vibes of thick yet monstrously meaty riffs that may put some people off... while the TRVE Black Metal fanbase will find this sound production originally remarkable. Overall concluding "Ice, Vapor And Crooked Arrows" with the blistering "Sleepers Below"; I am compelled to say that KÊRAS & Atvar certainly outdone himself here, it may please veterans of this sub-genre...yet newbies discovering fresh grinds maybe put off with the bitter harmonies of the guitar which seems overpowering. However, if you love extreme noise terror & banefully evil empowered fulfillments - this should surely treat your soul.
