Draconian - Arcane Rain Fell album cover

Arcane Rain Fell is the title of Draconian's second release. A concept album is chosen by the Swedish band as a follow up to their successful debut Where Lovers Mourn. A debut that managed to gain the favor of the Goth/Doom oriented Metal audience.
The roots of the band's existence go back to 1994 and after several changes and efforts (they recorded quite a few demos) they ended up with a contract with Napalm Records through which they released their debut Where Lovers Mourn alvum  in October 2003.The album was a mixture of Gothic and Doom Metal music with the vocals leaning in favor of the female singer of the band, Lisa Johansson.
As it couldn't have been done in any other, better way, the opening track A Scenery Of Loss starts with the sound of rain falling down to the ground when a thunder strikes unleashing the mourning guitar melodies creating a heavy dark doom atmosphere that surrounds the whole album. The music on Arcane Rain Fell follows a doomier path that its predecessor and that has to do with the heavier and slow speed guitar sound which is followed by background keyboards. It's a concept album about the fall of the angels and it's full of emotion, darkness, passion, sorrow, hatred, misanthropy and solitude. Excellently produced, it manages to combine emotions and melody in a musical delirium. The female vocals have a smaller part this time leaving space for the deep growls and clean vocals of Anders Jacobsson and using the voice of Lisa Johansson more as background vocals. Every instrument has its place, the compositions are very strong and considering the lengthy compositions as a fact, that shows how talented this band is. The closing track of the album, a re-release of the epic Death, Come Near Me (15:22) shows exactly the aforesaid. I must also admit that there are similarities with other bands of the genre like of My Dying Bride, Theater Of Tragedy, Tristania etc though I think this is due to following the same musical path, so I'm considering them only as influences...
Concluding, I think, Arcane Rain Fell is one solid, dark, melancholic piece of art, thus a must for every fan and its existence in your personal collection is eminent...
