Forged in the hills of Kentucky and tempered in the mountains of Colorado, SADDLE OF SOUTHERN DARKNESS with their self-titled debut album, are giving one of the most incredible performance I have ever listened to in my metal life. To be crystal clear, I do not like this album, I found terribly difficult to listen to it, but, hey, have you ever listened to country music tailored to metal heads? Something like country dark metal, or, actually, I do not know how to define it.

In the promo received, there are only 6 songs of pure and dark country music, which would sound perfect in some Quentin Tarantino film (I found some proximity with Tito and the Tarantulas), but that's it. Most likely you have never heard a "metal" band playing mandolin or dobro, and maybe you would like to give a try with SADDLE OF SOUTHERN DARKNESS: the final result is nevertheless interesting, although, as said, is not for me. However I would just mention two songs: "Sitting as a bull" is the perfect song that should have been played in the Titty Twister (I bet you saw "From dusk till dawn") and "Dealing hate", a desolate song, more country and less dark-metal than the other, who was my perfect companion in the car coming back from the holidays.

That's it. Short review, not so negative, not so positive: a niche album, original, and some songs that I would love to see in some OST.
