"Tastefully crafted Rock for the discerning palate." That's how the band describes their efforts. Obviously palates range, but "Tinnitus The Night" definitely will satisfy many of them. A cleverly crafted mix of 70's rock radio and British electric blues bands dragged through the Southern rock swamps and psychedelic deserts, ROADSAW have managed to jump the safety guard, your ears beware because the Boston trio have revved up a scorcher with this 10 track/45 minute powerhouse.

"Peel" is my absolute highlight, which is just dripping with the right amount of psychedelia, with "Midazolam" also scoring trippy points, and flat out rages.. Elsewhere, the trio counterbalances with scorcher after scorcher. "Fat Rats" manages to actually convey the paranoia of rats (whether of the rodent or human variety) scurrying about. Lyrically, the band has done a creative job, and back it up masterfully with music that matches the lyrical message. In fact, the band does so throughout, which is rare.  I'm always intrigued by the vocal/drums duality, and Riggs seems to have it mastered. Ross, somehow manages to fill his guitar sound in all places at all times, while Catz meanders here and there perfectly with those lower notes. Again, I fall back on "Peel" here, as a perfect example of how well these guys mesh things together.....that solo Riggs peels of is perfection (no pun intended....okay, maybe a little).

I enjoyed "Tinnitus the Night" quite a bit, and a special call out for the great title. The band managed to present an album that showcases a lot of styles and talents. From straight out stoner rock in "Along For The Ride" and "Shake" to the Desert Rock of "Peel" and "Midazolam" to the softer edge of "Silence" the band has rallied from recent line-up changes damn well. They've been around for some 8 years or so, and I'm embarrassed to say this was my first exposure. They're on my radar now, and I don't expect that will change. Job well done.
