Two words synonymous with each other are Metal and Sweden and that is exactly where HUMANITY'S LAST BREATH is from. With their latest release "Abyssal" we are blessed with some top notch Death Metal. This is a group of legends in the making for sure. The band is made up of four members including, Buster and Calle on the guitars, Filip on vocals and Marcus on the drums. Prepare yourselves for greatness on our journey through "Abyssal".
"Bursting Bowel of Tellus" begins the album with an absolute banger. This song is like if the bowels of hell opened up in your living room and Satan came out and kicked you square in the dick. There's one part that has some creepy ass whispering/singing that I can't make out, but fucking hell it's great. This band is phenomenal and now I know who is going to be stuck on repeat for a while. "Bone Dust", I don't know what to say other than holy fucking shit. This is well written yet brutal metal personified. The breakdown in this song had me full of rage and a want to fuck shit up.
"Fradga" had me on edge the entire time. I don't know how people write such great music. These guys have more talent in one finger than a lot of bands out there. This is beautifully written, wonderfully produced and exactly what I want when I'm looking to fuck my ears up for a few days. "Abyssal Mouth" starts off with some crazy machine gun blast beats. It made me feel a little funny, I have never been attracted to a song in my life. I may need to seek professional help after listening to this song. How fucking beautiful can a Death Metal song be? I'm not sure but this may just take the first place prize.
"Pulsating Black" keeps up the absolute perfection. There is just enough of every instrument sticking out as well as vocals to be insane but still be able to be comprehensible. I find this song to be very very good. So far there hasn't been anything I can complain about. "For Sorg" busts in like a bat out of hell. This well constructed instrumental will keep you entertained for the entire two and a half minutes. I think it's a great addition to an already amazing album.
"Like Flies" is powerful as fuck. It hits harder than a sledgehammer to the chest. This is one of those songs you had no idea you were looking for until you hear it. I am pretty sure this is going to be one of the best albums of the year. "Sterile" is as filthy as they come. It's just sheer unadulterated metal and I fucking love it. It may be one of the best songs on the album. It kinda makes me think of BENEATH THE MASSACRE and THE FACELESS but heavier. "Being" starts off with some layered talking which is quite eerie especially with the way the music is layered with it as well. This song is quite evil sounding and fits the album wonderfully.
"Vanda" is the longest song on the album and I am very happy that it is, cause fucking hell it's pure gold. This song is the perfect blend of crunchy and heavy. This is hands down one of the best songs of the year. I am very happy I was able to get this to review. "Rampant" makes me want to do the Black Metal crab walk everywhere whilst breaking my neck headbanging. I just don't feel like being put in the psych ward at the moment. If I had to use one word that's not a real word to describe this song it would be "Hnnng".
The final song of this illustrious album is "Dodgud" which starts off with Gregorian style chanting that leads into on of the heaviest riffs on the album. This song is basically an instrumental besides the Gregorian style chanting. This is an absolute perfect ending to a remarkable album. I recommend this to absolutely everyone!
