You have got to be kidding me! When I first got this CD I was attracted by the band's name. Yeah, sounds too 80's but aren't there times when you see a name and you are like Damn this sounds cool!? The fact is that my initial enthusiasm was beaten down to the ground by the band's (adjective here) music.
The Swedish metallers exist since 1997 and have a respectable number of releases under their belt. They belong to Willowtip for 4 years now if I am not mistaken, but I just hope that the US label possesses some stronger weapons because this one seems kind of faulty.
CROWPATH is honestly the noisiest band I have came across during this year, and I say noisy in a bad way. Their effort to mix Grindcore/Death Metal with some more Progressive/Sludge parts is a pointless move to copy bands like CEPHALIC CARNAGE, ORIGIN etc, but it's exactly as people say, either you have or not. There were many times during my listening session of One With Filth that I just couldn't find a specific meaning in what they do. Even their fans can't realize what this band exactly is, since half of them tag them as Mathcore, while the other half as extreme Death Metal. What I unfortunately had the chance to hear in this album, was a band that tries to be fast and technical but ends up being extremely tiring.
I really don't know why this album was so disappointing. Just imagine some guys literally torturing their instruments. Ah, let's move on to the next review. Enough with the sound pollution already!
